I am leaving for San Diego this Saturday, there are lots of things to be done between now and then! As usual, I will procrastinate until the last minute, because I am awesome at that. We'll be gone for 22 days. Just me and the girls. It's sad too because Katie has suddenly gotten this major bond with Sami, where she actually cries for him, wants him to cuddle and hold her and even *gasp* put her to bed on occasion! Sami's always there for the girls and spends every second of his free time with them, so it's just going to be really hard for him. We'll miss him, too of course but being with all of the family and all of the excitement of the new baby will give us so many things to occupy our time whereas he'll just be sitting at home with no one. :( Poor Sami.
In other news, I write children's stories all of the time and am going to really push myself to find an illustrator and publisher. Why not, right? I've been doing all kinds of artsy things again. I guess I'm feeling like myself more and more now with the kids getting a little older. But it's more like I'm just finally pushing myself to stop blaming my kids for my lack of free time. I just have to prioritize and use better time management.
Well, I'm actually going to work on a painting now while Katie is napping and Bridget's busy practicing cutting out squares. Not much else going on around here.

We actually have friends here
Today we had two couples over; Lars and Christine and their two kids Annika and Ian. Annika is 4 and Ian is 2, so they're great ages for playing with my girls. Bridget and Annika played wonderfully together. And then there were Grant and Amanda and their son Ryley who is 10 months. Grant and Amanda are the ones who live on a gigantic farm with lots of animals!
Anyways, they all came over for dinner. I made stuffed grape leaves and kabab. It was tasty, but not at all punctual of course. So I felt disappointed in my time management skills again. But it was fun and the best part is that the three of us girls are all pretty crunchy and similar ages and all of the husbands are skateboarders and similar ages, too. Not to mention Sami and Grant share the same birthday, but one year apart. I'm hoping they all get together a few times while I'm out of town. Sami really needs some guy friends and it sounded like they don't have many friends nowadays either. That happens when you grow up and move around, have kids, etc. Friends don't always grow with you.

Katie the Destroyer
The littlest family member, well excluding the cat, is on a new mission to destroy anything I attempt to clean. First it was all the clean laundry as I was folding, she was carefully unfolding. Then there was the big sister's unattended bowl of oatmeal that I guess she felt would be better off a big pile of sticky mush on the carpet. Then there was the daily emptying of the salt and pepper shakers on the dining room table. I just can't breathe sometimes with all of the madness. I'm not an orderly person to begin with and I usually don't care, I'm used to her antics, but tomorrow I'm having friends over for dinner, so I'm of course trying to make the house a little more presentable than usual.
She has finally gone down today for her first nap, which is totally unusual because she's normally down for a morning nap by 11am and then a late afternoon nap takes place around 5ish. She goes down a little before 9 and is up at 7am. I really wish we all lived on that same sleep schedule. Unfortunately, the rest of us: Sami, myself and Bridget are a bunch of neurotic sleep fighters at night and not morning people at all. Funny how that works.
I'm currently working on (in addition to cleaning the house) crocheting a baby blanket for a nephew who's arrival is looking like any day now. Possibly this weekend! I'm also working on a skirt for Bridget that's been sitting on a shelf for months because I got really frustrated with the bizarre hem on it, a pair of booties for the new baby and a variety of carriers for my sister in law to try once he's born.
And of course I have to plan out the shopping list for tomorrow's dinner and after this weekend I'm going to be focused on getting the girls and I packed up for San Diego. One week from tomorrow we'll be on a plane out there. :)

Good Morning
Once again it's almost 2 am. And here I am on my computer. My mind is racing with all of the things I wish I had the time to do. But tomorrow morning will be here way too soon and I won't want to be a part of it if I stay awake any longer. Sorry Sims, not tonight.
I'm starting this blog purely on the motivation of "everyone else is doing it". I only wish I could make mine as fancy as all those pretty ones I come across when I'm searching for new crafty inspirations. So, this is it. My BLOG. What a terrible name that is. It really does sound like your going to choke on something. I'm off to bed now. I hope I don't just lie there and think of all the fun things I could be doing online!
